How can YOU Participate?

(As a business, that is)


It’s easy and fun to become a part of ¡CARNAVAL SANTA FE!

The City of Santa Fe, the State of New Mexico and the Museum of International Folk Art are organizing a community-wide festival, entitled ¡CARNAVAL SANTA FE!, surrounding the electrifying CARNAVAL exhibit and we hope you will become involved. The events are designed to inspire and rally our community (and the visitors lucky enough to come) to celebrate Carnaval style. In other words -- to have fun!

Here are some facts to help you become a Carnaval Friendly Venue:

When: January 6 – February 8, 2005 (Fat Tuesday)
AND
May 15 – August 28, 2005

Countries featured in the exhibit:
o Venice, Italy
o Tlaxcala, Mexico
o Laza, Spain
o Recife/Olinda, Brazil
o Basel, Switzerland
o Oruro, Bolivia
o New Orleans, USA
o Port of Spain, Trinadad and Tobago

Fill out our Business Participation Form

Participation Ideas:
o Offer special beads to customers (you can buy them from us at cost and give them away “as is” or put your own special mark on them)
o Play CARNAVAL Music in your establishment
o Display a 6" x 11" Carnaval Friendly Venue sign in your window
o Discounts or small gifts to those who visit your establishments in costume or masked
o CARNAVAL-related window displays
o Serve King’s Cake it to your customers
o Stay open late for the Fat Tuesday Procession (otherwise known as a pub crawl) – or better yet – join us!!!
o Musicians and/or dancers at your establishments (we can refer - just ask!)
o A myriad of other possibilities (you’re the creative ones!)

How your participation will be promoted:
Once we receive your participation form, your business will be listed on:
o ¡CARNAVAL SANTA FE! Website Calendar
o New Mexico CultureNet Website Calendar
o The City’s 10-day calendar that is generated for the Concierges and Hotels
o Display advertising in local publications
o Linked to the New Mexico Tourism Department Website
and may receive:
o Articles in local, regional and national print publications
o Inclusion in weekly ¡CARNAVAL SANTA FE! updates on Blu102.9
o Inclusion on radio PSAs and interview shows

In an effort to encourage cross-promotion throughout the city,
please include the following tag line in your promotional materials for this event:
